Poverty Requiem tijdens Europa Cantat XVII
Sinds 2007 zingen duizenden mensen over de hele wereld het Poverty Requiem. Een muzikaal protest tegen de armoede in de wereld. Europa Cantat brengt dit spektakel weer terug naar Nederland. Op 25 juli dirigeer ik het requiem. Gerekend wordt op een deelname van honderden zangers. De deelname is gratis. Via Europa Cantat vind je informatie om je in te schrijven.

Oefenen
In het Requiem wordt het uitgangspunt van democratisch muziek maken gehanteerd. Iedereen kan meedoen. Tijdens een workshop tijdens het discovery atelier van Euro Cantat, komen de zangers, percussionisten en solisten bij elkaar en wordt het stuk ingestudeerd. Wanneer alle zangers zich thuis goed hebben voorbereid is één workshop voldoende om vervolgens het stuk op het Domplein ten gehore te brengen. The Poverty Requiem is music composed in the style of worldmusic, for a choir of an unlimited number of singers (men, women, children), two solo singers, and a number of percussionists and dancers. Its intention is to let people raise their voice against poverty in the world. During the workshop in the discovery atelier of Europa Cantat singers, percussionists and the solo singers and dancers come together, and the whole performance is put together. If singers have practiced sufficiently at home, one workshop is enough to perform the concert on the Domplein. Below you find Audio examples, scores and a manual to download.
